First Article of 2021 Accepted for Publication

In 2020, I stepped away from writing and into the wilderness. Living a relatively new nomadic life in a disintegrating country of pandemics and riots silenced my muse. I’m not going to go into the details (I already have elsewhere at my website).

We’ve all had the same dumpster fire year. Bushwhacking through the chaos. But I’m back on the trail.

It took a working vacation in the Montana backcountry to re-energize my passion. Last October, I started regularly posting articles on my site and at Medium. This slowed as the New Year rolled in. Not because I’ve slipped away from the keyboard again, but because I’m returning to the tried and true submission circuit.

Since late December, I’ve written and submitted six short stories to paying venues.

Those stories are currently in the “slush pile” awaiting their fate. I’m particularly proud of them as I haven’t written a short in a long while, so I hope to share them soon. If they fail to find a home, they’ll end up on my site for you to read.

I’ve also continued writing non-fiction. Think pieces that I am also shopping at other paying venues. Recently, I was notified of acceptance of my article, Cannibal Consumerism at an intriguing new site, Growing Up Alienated.

This site is not a confirmation bias machine. It is a site dedicated to rational, substantive analysis and viewpoints which may not fit in today’s polarized media environment. Expect to be challenged. Approach with an open mind.

I hope you’ll take the time to drop by and give it a read. With any luck, I’ll have more stories to share soon.

Thanks to all of you who’ve stuck around here through this rocky time. I know this sudden shift in focus may disappoint some, but I feel it is a necessary step in the continued exploration of my passion for storytelling.

As always, thanks for reading,

Russ
