Kade and his deathtrap RV have been spotted on the outskirts of Sin City. He’s not there to see The Strip. But he might just be placing a bet with his very life as the stakes…
More to come as we near the release of Death Bed, book two in the series!
In two weeks, I’ll be on the road too. As many of my readers know, the Fort Black Thrillers are inspired by my own nomadic travels. And Kade’s next location, Lake Mead, is one of my favorites.
My love of the lake came as a surprise. I’ve been to Vegas before. Too often. For work, rarely for pleasure, but all the lights and noise aren’t my thing.
However, I enjoy the endless desert vistas. Sunsets can be glorious. The ones at Lake Mead are some of the most spectacular I’ve ever witnessed.
It’s the lake that really sets them on fire. Or cools them down. It all depends on the desert’s mood. A seemingly barren landscape filled with history and secret places.
This stunning recreation area quickly became a regular stop on our winter migration as we explored the Southwest.
Like Earp, California where we drove out to the Desert Bar on an ATV road in our reliable little Mazda. Palm Springs where we gazed from the RV roof at the odd sight of palm trees framing snow-capped mountains. Death Valley – days filled with lonely hikes through a deceptively deadly terrain and chilly desert nights fought off with a soak in the hot springs.
We’ve crisscrossed the canyonlands of Arizona, braved the badlands of New Mexico, and fled the crowds of southern Utah’s “Mighty Five” National Parks (plans to return off-season). So much beauty out there, I find myself aching to see it again.
Those journeys have become fuel for this thriller series. Exploring our country’s backroads my muse. I’ve always been an explorer at heart. I’m sure many of you are too.
While we wait for the latest book in the series, why not drop me a line or share an experience about your own journeys in the comments?
And if you just can’t wait, well, you can always pre-order Death Bed HERE…
