THEY’RE BOTH FREE

When I first released Devil’s Churn in 2023, I ran a free eBook promo to celebrate the release of my first full length thriller. It went amazingly. Thousands of books were handed out to eager action thriller readers. But at the time, since I was exclusive to Kindle Unlimited, members could get the book for free anyway. So there wasn’t a great benefit to my readers. Now? Fort Black is in every major store. With paperbacks and audiobooks and ebooks and, and… It’s time to set Kade free one more time! Bookbub will be running a promotion on Monday 5-26. And I decided heck, why just one day? Let’s make it a WEEK of freedom for our rogue road warrior. So from 5-24 until 5-31 the first eBook in the most exciting series you’ll find this side of the Mineral King pass will be absolutely free! Don’t wait! That marmot didn’t. (He took exception to the paparazzi treatment and scurried off.)
NOMAD UPDATE
We’re currently in Grand Tetons National Park. Next level beauty here. But the most impressive thing is that I’ve been able to get any work done. A generous snowpack is keeping me out of the higher elevations. Otherwise, the trails are amazing. Early spring is my favorite time to explore the backcountry. Groggy animals stumble into camera shots. The chill is enough to keep the bugs away. And I don’t have to haul gallons of extra water because every creek is swollen by the melting landscape. (Yes, I treat / filter / boil / etc. ) One of my trail habits when I reach my destination is to boil a cup of tea using a nearby water source. Glacial lakes, roaring falls, burbling brooks. And, yeah, just melted (and boiled) snow. As a bonus, snow tea has a hint of citrusy pine added to whatever leaf you’ve brought along. (And grit. I mean, it’s organic, yeah?) We’ll be off to explore Yellowstone next. I’ve included some photos of my adventures for anybody seeking inspiration.

And for those who happened to read my last email/post ALL THE WAY to the end and maybe contacted their representatives about NOT selling our public land, THANK YOU. The sale of half a million acres was removed from the big bad bill! Score one for public lands and my marmot buddy there… Thanks again for reading, Russ
